Meet “CAREGIVER” Patsy Carter
I was born in Macon, Georgia, and spent my early childhood moving between Utah, Arizona, and Georgia.
A significant chapter of my life unfolded when I lived with my aunt, uncle, and their nine children in Alpharetta, GA, from ages 12 to 14. I was baptized into the Mormon faith at 12 and remained active in the church until I came out as gay at 19 while serving in the Air Force.
The most stable period of my life was from ages 14 to 18, living with my grandparents, Grandpa and Grandma Carter. I graduated from Provo High in 1989 and entered the delayed enlistment program for the United States Air Force, beginning active duty in December of that year.
I proudly served in the Air Force from 1989 to 1993, being honorably discharged. My service took me to Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona, and Kunsan Air Base in South Korea. These experiences deepened my appreciation for Asian culture.
After my service, I returned to Tucson, AZ, and began working part-time as a courier with FedEx in 1995. I later transferred to Madison, AL, and in 1997 became a manager with FedEx in Gadsden, AL. I moved to Phoenix, AZ, in 1999 and stayed there until I chose to leave in February 2004.
In June 2005, I returned to Utah to spend time with my Grandma Carter before she passed away. In January 2006, I started working for eBay through a temp service and became a permanent employee in July 2006, where I’ve happily worked ever since.
Nowadays, I spend most of my free time with my dingo, Poppy, tackling DIY projects, and trying to keep my friend Raylynn alive.
